Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I join the Piping Kettle team?

Joining Piping Kettle gives you the opportunity to own your own business with the support of an experienced, family-owned restaurant company. Our team helps guide you through the opening process, including lease negotiations, store design, construction, and hands-on training.

Support continues after opening through operational guidance, corporate support, collaboration with other Piping Kettle franchisees and managers, and participation in brand-wide marketing initiatives.

What level of commitment and experience is required?

We are looking for hands-on owner-operators who are ready to be actively involved in their business. Franchisees should be engaged in daily operations, lead their team, and follow Piping Kettle operating standards.

Previous restaurant or franchise experience is helpful but not required. What matters most is strong leadership, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to following proven systems.

What is the estimated investment to open a Piping Kettle restaurant?

The estimated investment ranges from $250,000 to $400,000, depending on the location and build-out requirements.

  • Minimum net worth: $250,000
  • Minimum liquid assets: $50,000 or higher in some markets
  • Initial franchise fee: $35,000
  • Royalty: 6% of gross sales
  • Advertising contribution: Up to 2% of gross sales
  • Local marketing: 1% of gross sales
  • Grand opening marketing: Minimum $3,000

Will I receive training?

Yes. Franchisees receive comprehensive hands-on training designed to prepare them for the day-to-day realities of operating a Piping Kettle restaurant.

Training is approximately eight weeks and typically includes time in an established Piping Kettle restaurant, followed by training and support in your own restaurant before opening.

Training covers core areas such as restaurant operations, recipes, systems, customer service, food preparation, inventory management, and day-to-day business management. Timelines may vary depending on previous experience and progress. Franchisees are responsible for their own travel, accommodation, and personal expenses during training.

Who builds my restaurant?

Our team works closely with approved contractors to help coordinate the build-out of your restaurant. We also assist with lease negotiations and guide you through the development process, from site selection to opening day.

Are single and multi-unit opportunities available?

Yes. We are actively seeking qualified franchise partners interested in both single-location ownership and multi-unit development opportunities as we continue expanding across Canada.

How long is the franchise agreement?

The initial franchise agreement term is 10 years, with renewal opportunities available in accordance with the franchise agreement.
